Kym Douglas—Hallmark’s Beaty and Fashion expert— did 2 weeks of research before deciding to highlight BOOM’s simple, healthy and Pro-Age cosmetics on her show.

[Sample] Smith Journal 13

Vendor: SM13
Price: 25

Volume 13 of Smith Journal is crammed with more than its fair share of sharp minds. Top of the list would have to be Solomon Shereshevsky, who remembered every single thing he’d ever come across – a great skill to have when it came to party tricks, but enough to send him crackers. And then there’s Delbert Trew who spends more time than you can imagine thinking about something very sharp indeed: barbed wire. You can’t go past Samuel Morse, either, who was a famous portrait painter before he gave his name to the code he invented. What a genius! And we’re pretty taken with Noel Turner, who was smart enough to get around some pretty weird New Zealand laws to invent a car that, for a while, was a huge success. As well, you’ll find stories on a cross-dressing spy, a couple of Sydney nerds who revolutionised modern music, court illustration, big wheels, the dubious science of controlling the weather and a whole stack of other stuff.

Here’s what her female fans were saying:

When you are over 40, you are no longer a blank canvas.

This a good thing—and it’s a beautiful thing, because it means that you have lived more life. But it also means that you don’t want to put as much makeup on your skin as you did in you 20’s or 30’s. This is really great advice. Because when you have a few smile lines and you try to conceal them with foundation and extra makeup, what really happens is you accentuate them. That’s what drew Kym Douglas to my Boomstick Trio, because BOOM is all about revealing your skin and your natural radiance and feeling good while doing it.

If you are over 40, the blush and foundation you buy should be in cream form.

Unlike powder-based makeup that goes into the skin and gets caked in age-lines, Boomstick Color is cream-based and rests on top of the skin—and on top of any fine lines. But you want to start with a great moisturizer, and Kym suggests Boomsilk because it’s simple, light and feels good. Plus, when you start with a good moisturizer, you use less makeup.

THANK YOU! These are THE products I've been waiting for all my life. After two months of using the GLO instead of my old moisturizer, my skin is so clear and even that I frequently need nothing else on my face.

THANK YOU! These are THE products I've been waiting for all my life. I feel the need to brighten up just a little. Time is showing on my face, which is beautiful, but a splash of Boom is the perfect accompaniment of a wonderful life.

Boom is amazing! Just got my order and I couldn't be happier! I've spent a lot of $$ on products over the years that have been a complete waste of money, but Boom is worth every penny.

I went to an event last night and all I had on my face was your Boomstick Trio….I'm a natural girl and don't wear make-up…..I had several comments on how great I looked and I just glowed!!! lol, BOOM!

Cindy Joseph’s makeup tips for Boomers

1. Use cream-based, not powder-based cosmetics on your face. Powder adds texture to skin that already has developed texture.

2. A good rule of thumb for lipstick is to find a tone that matches your inner lip or gums.

3. Women older than 50 tend to lose definition in their eyebrows. Just go with that. Don’t recreate the brows you had in your 20s.

4. This is a hard one, but do not wear any eye shadow  at all (and especially no contour eye shadow in the crease because it gives the appearance of deepening the crease). A little bit of mascara is OK.

5. If you’re going to use a foundation to even out skin tone, find one that gives coverage but doesn’t add texture. Be willing to spend money on a foundation and take your time to experiment and find the exact right shade. Matching your skin tone exactly is critical.
